Ontario reported 89 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, July 30, marking the second day running that Ontario saw fewer than 100 new cases.

Yesterday’s COVID-19 case increase, at 77, was the lowest number of new daily cases recorded in Ontario since March 22.

That announcement came as Toronto and Peel were both given the green light by Ontario Premier Doug Ford to move into Stage 3 on Friday.

The newest numbers mark an overall 0.2 per cent increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the province, Health Minister Christine Elliott said on Twitter.

The province processed 27,300 COVID-19 tests on Wednesday, Elliott added.

Ontario COVID-19 deaths and hospitalizations

“Hospitalizations, ICU admissions and vented patients all declined” from Wednesday, Elliott said.

Currently, there are 84 people – seven fewer than Wednesday – hospitalized in Ontario due to COVID-19. Of those, 27 people are in the ICU and 16 are on ventilators.

Three people died of COVID-19 in Ontario on July 30, bringing the total number of deaths due to COVID in the province to 2,772.

Ontario has had 39,075 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 34,906 now considered resolved.
