Cyclist killed in hit-and-run

This morning a Toronto cyclist was killed, the result of a hit-and-run near the corner of Davenport and Lansdowne, according to Toronto police. Our photographer (and cycling activist), Martin Reis, was on the scene shortly after police and paramedics responded to the scene around 6:30 this morning. The male victim was rushed to St. Michael’s hospital, where he died shortly after. The death of this cyclist, Reis says, makes 2012 the “worst year for cyclists fatalities since 1998 when six died on our roads.”

Police are on the lookout for a burgundy or red van, with front-end damage.
