Dragon boat racers competed with each other amidst cheering by friends and spectators at the Toronto Island’s annual Dragon Boat Festival.
The island was busy with Chinese dancing and other cultural events as well. The Dragon Boat Festival is in its 24th year, and dragon boating as a tradition is in its 20th century. It runs from June 23rd to 24th, which is referred to as the “double fifth” since it is the fifth day of the fifth lunar month.
