Hamilton’s mayor and a city councillor are condemning demonstrators for calling for “mass deportations” in the city.

On Saturday, protesters were seen at Jackson Square, in downtown Hamilton, holding a big banner that says “Mass Deportations Now.”

Ward 3 City Councillor Nrinder Nann tweeted about the protest saying the city “will not tolerate racist, white-nationalism” and that the demonstrators should show their faces.

“The cowardice of hiding your faces while feeling emboldened to put forward hateful propaganda in our communities,” she tweeted Saturday.

Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath also commented about the demonstration saying there’s “no space for hate or discrimination” in the city.

“Hamiltonians deserve to feel accepted, valued, and safe – and to be able to enjoy their communities free from hate, racism, and discrimination,” she said.
