Happening NOW: April 22, 2010

What’s happening April 22, 2010:

Happy Earth Day! How much do you actually know about the day? Does Gaylord Nelson click with you as the founder? The Telegraph has a nice list of facts you should probably know about today.

Coinciding with Earth Day is the World Peoples’ Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth. It’s happening in Bolivia, where the president said the summit was called after COP 15 failures.

It’s looking like Torstar wants to do a some recycling. The Globe is saying the Toronto Star covets Canwest’s Financial Post. Late June or July is when the matter of pulling Canwest’s newspaper group (which includes over forty community and broadsheet papers) from creditor protection should be settled.

Sucks to be Rahim. The Star, which is basically the Jafferlena Post these days, says ex-MP Rahim Jaffer sought $100 mil in fed funds in unregistered lobbying by his Green Power Generation company. Of course Nazim Gillani, the man tied to the lobbying (and allegedly helping defraud RONA of $1.6 mil among other things) is who everyone wants to hear from next.

Finally, if you’ve been following the anti-government Tea Party movement south of the border, PBS has an incredible map of where in the US the loosely-connected group has its strongest supporters.[rssbreak]
