Happening NOW: April 27, 2010

What’s happening April 27, 2010:

Anyone in Toronto shocked at the disgusting indifference shown in a NYC video of a man stabbed saving a woman from an attacker (after an hour and twenty minutes and two dozen people ignored him, he died), should take a hard look at their own city. Yesterday, a 79-year-old man was mugged on the TTC, and while he tried to hit the emergency strip, his calls for help were ignored and nobody bothered pressing that yellow alarm.

Stephen Harper’s Cons finally came clean with their ignorant plan to NOT include abortion in their maternal health-care funding initiatives. Pandering to his religious fanatic voters, he’s knocking this country backward a few decades and basically reopening the abortion debate.

Sometimes I wish the Liberals and NDP would get a little more creative during question period. Like, say, Ukraine – where the debate of renewing Russia’s Black Sea fleet lease involved brawling, egg tossing and smoke bombs.

If you’re following the massive oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico, NASA (via Treehugger) has a couple of telling shots of the slick as it gets closer to the Delta National Wildlife Refuge.

Finally, who needs electric trains when regular ones can run on beef. Amtrak in the US is testing new diesel that uses cattle power. Yes, vegetarians and vegans, the fuel mix – which cuts all kind of emissions – also runs on refined beef byproducts.[rssbreak]
