Happening NOW: April 30, 2010

What’s happening April 30, 2010:

Finally. The TTC has stepped out of the darkness and has installed displays for when the next bus or streetcar is arriving at your stop (Next Vehicle Information System). A press release announced the first stations/shelters receiving the LED screens (Dundas/Spadina, King/Bathurst, King/Spadina, Queen/Spadina, Bathurst/Adelaide, Broadview Station, Dundas West Station, Spadina Station, Union Station). Torontoist has some nice shots of the announcement.

The cause of a rooftop condo fire on Queens Quay, which spread faster on Twitter than in real life, is still a mystery. Move along folks.

Great news for skateboarders: a skatepark is set to open on Lawrence Ave. W this weekend. The space is going to be at the northwest corner of Lawrence and Varna.

Jaffer-Guergis mayhem may be a little quieter these days, but that doesn’t mean we can’t learn anything from the trashy tabloid worthy couple. Wendy Mesley breaks down how the Ottawa lobbying world works.

Finally, as the week winds down you’re probably at the end of your rope when your pain-in-the-ass kids ask “What the fuck’s for dinner?” Now you can just send them to whatthefuckshouldimakefordinner.com and tell them to do it themselves.[rssbreak]
