Happening NOW: April 5, 2010

What’s happening April 5, 2010:

If you caught info about Toronto’s east end CALM Compassion Club being raided by heavy-handed police, now you can catch the videos of undercover cops pushing people around and being their general thug selves.

Those Metropass vending machines that you’ve likely stared at while waiting to deal with a booth operator, then been annoyed by (they’ve been in a “coming soon” state for weeks in some places), are working. Well, in these stations: Bathurst, Bloor, Scarborough Town Centre, Union, Queen, Islington, St. Clair, Eglinton, Finch, and Islington.

The TTC’s release lists St. Clair twice, so if anyone sees them working at St. Clair West, we’ll know that was a typo.

“Toronto unfortunately has a history of being very ambitious with their plans and then backing off at the last minute because of expediency,” is how architect Ken Greenberg described our city in his resignation letter. He quit on plans to build a huge sports complex in the Lower Don Lands master plan when it became obvious officials wanted a suburban plan incongruent with the area’s feel.

Get ready for a pile of iPad related news in the coming days. Americans, and Canadians with friends in America are already waving the chubby iPod Touches around. Me? I’m going to work on some Moleskine notebook hacks.

And lastly, some ironic signs.[rssbreak]
