Your City

Happening NOW: August 11, 2010

What’s happening August 11, 2010:

Doesn’t it suck that you’re sitting there at work making your money and you just can’t run off and feed all your hard earned dough into a slot machine? Well, lucky for us, the Ontario government’s getting into the online gambling game to take advantage of you.

Double downer – gambling AND the internet.

Another kind of gamble is quitting when you haven’t got a new job lined up – unless, you’re this woman. She says goodbye to her Farmville loving, crappy boss in a dry eraser board slideshow.

Also saying goodbye, robfordmayor.com. The so-so parody site of my pick to play city council’s jolly old St. Nick – Rob Ford – was served with a cease and desist.

Jury’s still out on whether 110 proof beer is good. The price (£500) isn’t. But the idea of using stuffed critters as bottle cozies is pretty amazing (or is it humiliating for the little dead guys?).

Finally, if you believe “scientists” like “Stephen Hawking”, humanity is doomed unless we find a way off this earth in the next century. Let’s get an over/under going on our own extinction – maybe the OLG can set something up.
