Happening NOW: August 20, 2010

What’s happening August 20, 2010:

C’mmooon, we’ve all been there. . . a couple of, um, litres of wine, a headlight-less night drive in a foreign country, a conviction for driving under the influence, a childish fit of throwing our wallets on the ground and uttering “take me to jail.” Memories. Memories to hang onto forever – unless you’re Rob Ford, whose mind continues to astound. He forgot about the pot he had on him that night, and gave himself the lesser charge of failing to provide a breathalyzer when he was really just driving under the influence. What a classy guy. At least he didn’t ask the cop if he wanted to go to Iran to get raped and shot.

Since we’re on the topic of hazy truths, Roger Clemens was indicted on obstruction, making false statements and perjury. If convicted of the six charges, the former baseball ace could face 30 years in the slammer.

Ugh, and Facebook is giving us all a chore. Go into your privacy settings and turn off Places unless you want the site to turn into that annoying Four Sqaure thing that announces where you are to a world of thieves and exes.

Kudos to Telus for twisting the arms of folks who need paper cellphone bills. They’re going to start charging $2 if you want paper. The money, in turn, is donated to the Nature Conservancy of Canada.

Finally, The Huffington Post has a hilarious post on book titles that should be applied to some heavyweight lit.
