Happening NOW: August 24, 2010

What’s happening August 24, 2010:

Well, Rob Ford is leading in an Ipsos/Post/Global/Newstalk1010 poll – by 11 per cent over George Smitherman, in fact.

Meanwhile Warren Kinsella tweeted that current mayor, David Miller, was polling on flip-flopping to perhaps run again. If that aforementioned poll is any help, it says he would be leading Ford. Still, seems very pie-in-the-sky. How about Olivia Chow? Maybe Tory reconsidering. . . again?

How about Adam Vaughan? Ford wants to “chew him up and spit him out”. He’s referring, obviously to a mayoral debate not a scene from Delicatessen.

So what could possibly be worse than the thought of Rob Ford as mayor? My vote goes to this middle-aged UK woman who pets a kitty, looks around, and dumps it in a rubbish bin. Kitty survived. Cops are still hunting for the Mrs. Doubtfire impersonator.

Finally, it’s time to mellow out after all the negative news. Hooray, Canadians are making electric cars that have frames made from cannabis. Aw, bummer there too – industrial pot doesn’t have much THC.
