Happening NOW: June 11, 2010

What’s happening June 11, 2010:

Here’s something for our City Hall to emulate: Edmonton passed a by-law yesterday that allows cops to crack down on overly noisy motorcycles.

Copper is valuable stuff – it’s why crackheads break into abandoned buildings and tear through the walls to steal it. Apparently its value was also alluring to one TTC union boss Mike Santos who was arrested when police found his copper cache.

No big surprise – the Gulf oil spill is flowing out at twice the previously estimated rate: 40,000 barrels a day. And what’s really boiling money-people is that BP probably won’t be paying out its $10 billion dividend until we know just how badly the screwed up the U.S. coastline.

Fitting timing that Jacques Cousteau’s ship, Calypso, is being relaunched. The boat was damaged nearly 15 years ago, but will sail again as a touring exhibition.

Finally, for all you singles out there – time to dig into the past (this was posted last year) and lead into the weekend with a rad compilation of 1980s dating service videos.[rssbreak]
