Happening NOW: May 20, 2010

What’s happening May 20, 2010:

The pay toilets spotted the other week were given their inaugural $0.25 flush yesterday. The self-cleaning bus shelter like booths will be deployed at a rate of two per year, and will hopefully work longer than this already broken garbage bin I passed yesterday.

Neither you nor any unfortunate tourist trapped in Toronto during the G20 summit will be able to go up the CN Tower. It’s closed. Also worth avoiding: banks at night.

Also security related, a tool found at reclaimprivacy.org allows you to check your Facebook privacy settings. The tool doesn’t change anything for you, but clarifies Facebook’s convoluted security info.

Over in London, Greenpeace has managed to scale BP’s headquarters and unfurl a “British Polluters” flag.

Finally, a story on working conditions at Foxconn’s Chinese plant, which makes our Macs, iPads, iPhones, etc., offers some perspective on what goes into our devices. Spoiler: the 400,000 workers are far from happy.[rssbreak]
