Happening NOW: May 5, 2010

What’s happening May 5, 2010:

If you were hoping the city completely forgot about putting out the ugly public toilets approved as part of the street furniture program that gave us garbage bins that seem to be suffering from senescence, they didn’t forget. The first one is at Queen’s Quay and Reese and it’ll cost you a shiny quarter to use the thing once it’s running by the end of the month.

It’s a good thing the price dropped from a buck because a whopping 900,000 Canadians have dropped below the poverty line between 2007 and 2009, according to a telling report from the Citizens for Public Justice.

NDP leader Andrea Horwarth had begun pushing for the province to give a timeline for when Toronto will see the $4 bil cut from Transit City.

“If, as the Premier insists, he is simply delaying, rather than cutting Transit City funding, why won’t his government say when the $4-billion will actually flow?” she asks in a release, suggesting the premier broke the promise to run on it in a later election.

Time to decide where you’re going to hide June 20. Justin Bieber will play the Much Music Video Awards, which means you’ll probably get torn to shreds if you get between the Biebs and his insane fans.

Well, at least your can credit Bieber fans for being in love in a human – unlike this dude in Germany who decided to marry his cat, Cecelia.[rssbreak]
