Happening NOW: Remembrance Day

What’s happening on Remembrance Day, November 11, 2009.

If you’re riding the streetcar this morning around 11 am and it stops for a prolonged period of time, it might be on purpose (no, not for a coffee break). Today is Remembrance Day and vehicles will be pausing to honour vets. No Tweets from 11:00 am to 11:02 am either.

The Eaton Centre is hoping to use your iPhone data plan to “makes sure there’s no stopping your shopping” with a new app that continues the trend of retailers masquerading ad apps as helpful tools (see useless Wal-Mart app).

Greenpeace came knocking on my door Monday night. It’s a warm week, so the group is taking advantage to do some canvassing. But it’s not all about door-to-door fundraising: Greenpeace has also released a CD containing the org-launching 1970 concert at Amchitka. Featured are Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and Phil Ochs.

Not so into Joni Mitchell? Lady Gaga more your speed? Maybe you don’t even like Gaga’s music. Maybe you just like it when sparks fly out of her breasts. Maybe you want to go on a date with her. As yet unused Twitter hashtag: #dignityfail.

Just when you thought Google lowered the bar for what was needed to redo their logo (yes, I’m talking about two weeks of Sesame Street), they’ve gone and left their logo unchanged for Remembrance Day.[rssbreak]
