God only knows how much tax money was wasted on the overwhelming police presence at the Tories’ policy conference in London last weekend. We counted 30 protestors outside the London Convention Centre Saturday afternoon. To handle this, London police locked down the building and surrounded it. As well, they were joined by OPP, Hamilton and Kitchener-Waterloo officers. And when the quiet protestors marched away, they were pursued through the streets by four police vans, two paddy wagons, one police SUV and one touring bus filled with riot police. London police spokesperson constable Ryan Holland says they were prepared for a worst-case scenario. In the end, one protestor was arrested for possession of two knives and a stick. And London slept soundly that night.
