What if what stood between you becoming a millionaire overnight was an email sitting pretty in your junk folder?

Well, one Ontario woman almost took the “L” of the century after thinking her $1 million dollar OLG prize email confirmation was spam.

Which she swiftly deleted.

Newmarket resident Shuai Wang won the LOTTO 6/49 prize in the Gold Ball Draw on January 21, 2023.

The 40-year-old mother luckily secured the bag in the end after receiving a follow-up email.

This time around, she decided to log into her OLG account and find out for herself.

After confirming her win she still thought it was a mistake and waited for her husband to come home to tell him.

Wang said she will use the money to go back to school and work on her doctorate degree.

“I [also] plan to surprise my husband with concert tickets to see his favourite band and I’m considering a family trip for some fun,” Wang said in a press release Wednesday.
