Scotiabana?

Just two weeks ago we wrote about whether or not corporations should be able to slide their names into those of cultural institutions in this city. Today’s latest example is the new name for Caribana, the Scotiabank Toronto Caribbean Carnival.

Do you think Scotiabank deserves this formal acknowledgement for all the cash they pour into this festival or is this just another corporate rip-off, a path cultural groups are forced to take because of chronic under funding?

And will anyone at all use this new name or will we all keep calling the beloved but chronically troubled fest Caribana?

Do you have any other better new names for the fest?
