An Ontario woman is alerting other drivers to stay safe after she found a fabric tied to her car door and a man tried forcefully to get in.

On Wednesday, TikTok user @rolafarhat22 posted a video detailing a “weird thing” that happened to her following her night shift in North London, Ontario. At this time of publication, the video has over 610,000 views.

The video starts off with Farhat saying she noticed a little piece of fabric tied to her door handle as she was walking towards her car.

“So I was like ‘Hmm that’s a little weird,’ but I didn’t think too much of it, so I was just kind of snapping (Snapchat) my friend as I was walking to my car. As I was filming that snap, I noticed this man kind of walking towards me and there was nobody else in this parking lot, so I was like okay I’m going to start booking it to my car,” she said.

“Tell me why this man starts running to my passenger door. I luckily got in in time and locked the doors before he could get in but he started getting increasingly agitated and he tried opening the back doors, tried opening the front doors and when he realized, he couldn’t get in, there’s no way of getting in, he starts banging on the roof of my car,” she continued.

At this point, she said she hurried out of the area and reversed. In the process, she said she almost ran over his foot. This prompted the man to calmly walk away.

This gave her a chance to film a video of the man and get a good look of his appearance. Afterwards, she said she went straight to the police station to report the incident.

“I really have no idea what his intentions were and what he could’ve gained from this whole thing but just stay safe out there,” Farhat warned.

In a separate video, Farhat shared what the man looked like, with a caption that reads, “Stay aware of your surroundings. He genuinely looked like a normal college kid to me.”

Now Toronto has reached out to London police and they said they are aware of the incident and are investigating.

“If a person finds themselves in a situation such as this, they should lock the doors to their vehicle and drive away from the area. They should ensure they report not only this type of occurrence but any occurrence in which they feel unsafe to police as community safety is our priority,” reads a statement from police.

In the comments, other Ontarians are sharing their thoughts about Farhat’s experience and their advice.

“Have your vehicle checked for trackers,” one TikTok user commented.

“PLEASE get security or coworkers to walk you to your car, they will be watching you,” another commented.

“I think the purpose of the fabric is so you take the time to untie it before getting it which gives that person time to grab you. Terrifying. I’m so glad you’re safe!” another user said.

“Oh my gosh, a coworker was telling me an identical story about a young girl she knew. Hamilton, ON, she too thankfully locked her car doors as soon as she got in the car too! Scary!” another comment read.
