Adrenaline lovers, get ready, a record-breaking new launch coaster is making its thrilling debut at Canada’s Wonderland this weekend.
The amusement park’s newest ride, which promises to be the tallest, fastest and longest launch roller coaster in Canada, will be sending visitors up in the air as early as this Saturday, July 12.
The AlpenFury was just announced last August, with its 1,000-m ride set to reach speeds of 115 km/h and sending guests 50 m into the sky, while going through nine heart-racing inversions and multiple twists.
Wonderland has now released a full POV of what it’s like riding in the coaster, which begins with a launch into the depths of Wonder Mountain, followed by a second hit that sends the rider vertically into the mountain’s summit. Riders then face a fast drop, reaching the coaster’s fastest speed, while flipping and twisting in the air.
“With the combination of the two launches, that straight vertical climb and nine wild inversions, it will provide an action-packed, unforgettable experience. We’re excited to add AlpenFury to our lineup of world-class attractions,” the park’s Manager and Vice President of Operations Heather Hill said in a statement.
This month, Wonderland is also giving their most courageous riders a chance to have fun while supporting a good cause.
On July 18, the park will host its Ride for a Cause Day to raise funds for children at the Hospital for Sick Children.
Attendees will have the chance to ride the AlpenFury and six other rides, and the first 200 guests to purchase tickets for the event will receive a poster of the new ride. Tickets for the event are $125 and also include parking, admission to the park and Splash Works, as well as a private catered lunch. All profits from the event will go to SickKids.

Editor’s note: The article previously said it was North America’s tallest and fastest roller coaster, but it has been corrected.
