Teen arrested after student seriously injured in Georgetown high school stabbing

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after a student was assaulted with “an edged weapon” in a Georgetown high school, according to Halton police. 

The incident happened on Thursday in a classroom at Georgetown District High School. The victim was airlifted to a hospital, but their injuries have been upgraded to non-life threatening, according to police.

The suspect fled on foot after assaulting the student. 

The 17-year-old is facing charges of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Schools in the area were put into lockdown around 3 p.m. for a short period for the police investigation.
