About 2000 Dead Migratory Birds exhibited at the ROM on Thursday, March 21st. The Fatal Light Awareness Program (FLAP) of Canada organized the exhibit to raise awareness of the high rate of bird deaths in urban areas because of high rise buildings. According to their website, “FLAP volunteers find thousands of birds during each migration season that have died in collisions with windows and buildings in our urban environment.” It was a harrowing reminder of the wages of modernity. And a welcome reminder of how cool-looking birds are.
