‘This is great news!’ Rogers renews Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent for two more seasons

Good news Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent fans, CityTV just revealed that the hit show has been renewed. 

“After debuting as the number one show in Canada earlier this year, Rogers today announces a two-season greenlight for Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent,” the company said in a press release on Monday.

Viewers can expect a roster of familiar faces as multiple cast members are set to return.

The show welcomes back Aden Young as Detective Sergeant Henry Graff, Kathleen Munroe, as Detective Sergeant Frankie Bateman, Karen Robinson, as Inspector Vivienne Holness, and K.C. Collins, as Deputy Crown Attorney Theo Forrester.

When the show premiered in February, over 1.1 million people tuned in to watch the first episode of the franchise’s Toronto iteration, and fans of the crime drama were quick to react to news of its renewal. 

“Yay! I love this show and it is being filmed at places I go lol and all over the city,” one X user wrote. 

“This is great news. Really liked the first season,” another fan said. 

“Are there going to be any courtroom scenes? Enjoy this show but it’s 95% Law and 5% Order,” another person wrote.

Some of the first season’s plot lines seemed to be loosely based on actual crimes that happened in Toronto, including what appeared to be a dramatization of the late Rob Ford’s crack pipe smoking scandal.

Seasons two and three will premiere on Citytv in early 2025, with filming slated to begin in Toronto in July.
