The partial lunar eclipse put on a striking show over Canadian skies overnight, with the moon slipping into Earth’s shadow and taking on a warm, coppery-red glow.
The eclipse reached its peak shortly after midnight on Aug. 28, when about 96 per cent of the moon was covered by Earth’s shadow. The celestial event was visible across much of Canada, as well as parts of the Americas, Europe and Africa.
While cloudy skies and showers threatened to spoil the view in some places, skywatchers across the country still managed to capture some stunning shots of the moon as it moved through the shadow.
