A highly anticipated job fair came and went, but not without a record number of residents looking to secure work.
Toronto Pearson International Airport hosted a major hiring event on Thursday that resulted in a huge line of people, nearly 2,000 applicants to be exact.
“A record setting number of nearly 2,000 people attended Toronto Pearson’s job fair, featuring 30 employers looking to fill over 700 positions,” Senior Advisor and Media Relations Specialist Sean Davidson told Now Toronto in an email statement on Friday.
“There’s clearly high demand to work at Toronto Pearson – in fact, the airport is a heartbeat of Canadian innovation and is home to an incredible range of career and growth opportunities,” he continued.
Videos were posted online showing long lines that wrapped around the Toronto Congress Centre in Etobicoke.
Davidson shares that participants were asked to register in advance and the number was capped to ensure a positive and safe experience for everyone.
Despite the cap and no guarantees on allowing walk-in guests, the company was still allowing many unregistered walk-in applicants to enter.
And if you didn’t get a chance to get an interview or register in time, you’re in luck.
“We will continue to hold job fairs in order to find and hire the best employees for our airport community,” Davidson said.
