The RBC Amphitheatre is expecting a stacked week of events, but as thousands pour into the lakefront venue, the City of Toronto is cautioning fans about road closures in the area.
Where and when road restrictions will be in place
Beginning on Tuesday, lane restrictions will be in place on Lake Shore Blvd, between Ontario Dr and Strachan Ave. The closures will be in place from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. daily until Friday, Aug. 7.
The city said the closures were dedicated to the events happening at the RBC Amphitheatre.
While these restrictions are in place, the right curb lane will be open and reserved for pick-up and drop-off access at each event.
The city asks attendees to plan ahead, giving themselves extra time to get around the area.
Here’s who’s performing at RBC Amphitheatre this week
Fans from across the Greater Toronto Area will travel to the RBC Amphitheatre for multiple artists performing this week.
Beginning Tuesday, the Drops of Jupiter: 25 Years in the Atmosphere Tour headlines iconic rock groups Train and Barenaked Ladies. The tour celebrates Train’s silver jubilee of the popular 2001 album of the same name – Drops of Jupiter. As an extra treat, American rock and folk singer Matt Nathanson will also share the stage with the two bands, having fans headbanging to their favourite hits.
On Wednesday, 5 Seconds of Summer takes over the venue for their Everyone’s a Star! World Tour. The pop-rock Australian band is set to perform their sixth studio album with the same name, with some of their hits expected as well, like “She Looks So Perfect,” “She’s Kinda Hot,” and “Youngblood.”
On Thursday, bands Avenged Sevenfold and Good Charlotte will co-headline a performance filled with both heavy metal and rock songs from their respective discographies. The North American tour brings the duo’s energy from their previous collaboration single “The River” in 2007, having fans hyped for the reunion.
Finally, on Friday, the All the Feelings Tour brings Canadian groups Metric, Broken Social Scene, and Stars together for a triple threat night of rock and pop performances. All three bands are veterans of the indie scene, having all formed in the late 90s and early 2000s; the night will surely be one of deep nostalgia for some fans.
Consider alternative tranportation
With thousands of concertgoers expected each night, drivers and attendees are also encouraged to consider public transit where possible. Lane restrictions are scheduled to remain in place through Friday evening before lifting around 1 a.m. following the final concert of the week.
