As Lord Beaver Black sniffed goodbye to the colonies (and the colonies mooned back), we reminisced about those heady days a couple of years back when the verbose newspaper hack bought full control of the Southam chain and launched the National Post. Who could forget wacky Maude Barlow, who tried to take Black to court over media concentration, only to have the case thrown out on a technicality. (Ms. McBeal missed a filing deadline.) Where’s Barlow now that Global TV has bought out Black and Ma Bell has scooped up CTV and the Globe and Mail? The Beave’s lost empire seems kind of quaint compared to this ill communication.
