From Upfront’s police boondoggle desk, an update on “graffiti eradication.” In May, 7,410 square feet of graffitied surface were “cleaned, removed or painted over” by cops, prisoners and clean freaks. There were six business improvement association meetings, 25,000 “combat graffiti” brochures distributed and a lot of police time wasted erasing urban expression.
