
Muslims in the Greater Toronto Area are celebrating Eid al-Fitr this weekend to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Eid al-Fitr, which is also known as the festival of breaking the fast, is one of the most important holidays in the Islamic faith. It’s an opportunity for families and friends to spend time together, worship as a community and give to charity.
Here are some events celebrating Eid al-Fitr in the GTA this weekend:
Apr. 21
MAC Eid al Fitr Festival Toronto 2023
Location- Better Living Centre, 195 Princes’ Blvd., Toronto
Time- 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
This free event at the Better Living Centre in Exhibition Place is offering Eid Al-Fitr Prayer and a variety of festivities, including carnival rides and an arcade, a petting zoo, Nasheed performances, bazaar, food court, children shows, and more.
Celebrate Eid Mubarak at Toronto Premium Outlets
Location- Toronto Premium Outlets, 13850 Steeles Avenue West, Halton Hills
Time- 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Families can celebrate Eid Mubarak at Toronto Premium Outlets for the first-ever outlet festival. There will be a cultural mix of 50 local vendors in an ethnic pop-up bazaar, with delicious street food, free henna from a local henna artist and a magic show. The festivities are happening at the Outlets until Apr. 23.
Embrace Islamic Society Ramadan Eid Event
Location- Playtopia Kids Indoor Playground, 1681 Langstaff Road, Vaughan
Time- 5 to 8 p.m.
The Embrace Islamic Society is hosting a Ramazan Eid celebration at Playtopia. The family-friendly event will have a variety of events for children, including various games and a Toddler Zone. And adults can play a game of Kahoot, where they can test their knowledge and win prizes.
The admission fee is $15 per person for ages four and above. Tickets can be purchased here.
Chand Raat Durham Ramadan Market
Location- Memon Supermarket, 1899 Brock Rd, Pickering
Time- 1 p.m. to midnight
Visitors can do their Eid shopping at the Chand Raat Durham Ramadan Market this weekend. There are over 40 multicultural vendors offering clothing, jewelry, Hijabs, handbags, Eid decor and more. Several henna artists will also be at the event, along with free face painting and magic shows for children.

Muslim Neighbour Nexus Eid Carnival
Location- 3520 Odyssey Dr, Mississauga,
Time- 12-4 p.m.
Celebrate Eid al-Fitr is a carnival for kids and the whole family to enjoy in Mississauga. Hosted by the MNN Masjid, the event will have a bouncy castle, obstacle courses, ice cream, and more. Also, the first 100 kids will get free ice cream. There is no set ticket price for the admission, but the organizers are asking for a $10/person donation.

Time- 4:30 to 9 p.m.
To beat Eid-loneliness, RevertCare is hosting its flagship event, Eid With Us. The celebration aims to unite new Muslims and converts/reverts for Eid. Food will be served. Tickets are $10 for ages 10 and older, and children are free.
Apr. 23
5th Year Anniversary and Eid Celebration with the Women’s Mosque of Canada!
Location- Centre for Social Innovation – Spadina 192 Spadina Avenue Toronto
Time- 12- 2 p.m.
The Women’s Mosque of Canada is celebrating its 5th year anniversary and Eid al-Fitr with a special celebration. Guests will be treated to food and drinks, and the event is promised to be filled with joy, laughter and friendship. General admission tickets are $10, and fees will be used as donations towards the organizations’ Hardship Fund and the General Operating Fund.
Celebrate Eid with Brampton Mayor Brown and Members of Council
Location- Gage Park, 45 Main St S, Brampton
Time- 2- 5 p.m.
Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown and councillors are hosting a free event at Gage Park, complete with performances, face painting, cultural displays, free kids games, halal trucks, and more. The stage schedule can be found here.
