Justin Bieber is set to perform on one of the biggest stages of his career after being announced as a co-headliner for the first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show.
FIFA and Global Citizen announced Wednesday that the Stratford, Ont.-raised superstar will join Madonna, Shakira and BTS during the historic 11-minute performance on July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium, where the FIFA World Cup final will be played.
The halftime show, inspired by the Super Bowl format, will also feature Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus and Coldplay, with the performance curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
“The FIFA World Cup brings the world together in a way nothing else can,” Bieber said.
“I’m grateful to be part of this Halftime Show, and even more grateful knowing it’s already helping expand access to education for children around the world.”
Halftime show will support global education
The performance is more than just entertainment.
Produced by Global Citizen, the halftime show will raise money for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aiming to raise US$100 million to improve access to quality education and football opportunities for children around the world.
Organizers say more than US$30 million has already been raised, with US$1 from every FIFA World Cup ticket sold being donated to the fund throughout the tournament.
Bieber’s World Cup connection
The announcement comes after Bieber embraced the FIFA World Cup throughout the tournament.
The singer attended the opening ceremony with wife Hailey Bieber and publicly supported Canada’s national team during its historic run to the knockout stage before its Round of 16 exit against Morocco.
Earlier this summer, Bieber also made headlines when he appeared at the 2026 NHL Draft to announce the Toronto Maple Leafs’ first-overall selection, Gavin McKenna.
A global lineup
Alongside Bieber, Madonna, Shakira and BTS, the halftime show will feature Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel and New York’s PS22 Chorus, with appearances by Coldplay.
FIFA says the performance is expected to become one of the most-watched musical broadcasts in history, bringing together music and football fans from around the world during the tournament’s championship match.
The announcement continues a busy stretch for Bieber, who has made several high-profile public appearances in recent weeks, including surprising fans at the NHL Draft and cheering on Canada’s men’s national soccer team throughout its deepest-ever FIFA World Cup run.
