Daniel Caesar, Feist, and Snotty Nose Rez Kids are among the nominees competing for a 2023 Polaris Music Prize tonight.
Presented by CBC Music, the Polaris Music Prize will award $50,000 to the artist who wins the Canadian album of the year. According to organizers, this award is judged solely on artistic merit and does not consider genre or record sales. This year, the Polaris Music Prize Short List includes:

Aysanabee – Watin
Begonia – Powder Blue
Daniel Caesar – Never Enough
Feist – Multitudes
Debby Friday – Good Luck
Gayance – Masquerade
Dan Mangan – Being Somewhere
The Sadies – Colder Streams
Snotty Nose Rez Kids – I’m Good, HBU?
The winner will be revealed during the Polaris Gala at Massey Hall Tuesday evening. Some acts that are expected to take the stage include Aysanabee, Begonia, and Debby Friday, among others.
“This year’s 2023 Short List highlights the impressive and ever-evolving dynamism of Canadian music from artists at all stages of their career. As always, our incredible jury members are the engine and heart of the Polaris Music Prize, and we’re grateful for their time spent collectively crafting this list,” Polaris jury foreperson Melissa Vincent said in a Polaris blog post.
“In an age where our attention has become a valuable commodity, these 10 records are deserving of a deep, slow listen. We invite you to sink your teeth in,” she added.
The nominated albums were revealed earlier this year in July during a national broadcast on CBC Music and CBC Listen.
