No one is having a tougher time right now than Taylor Swift fans in Toronto it seems.
That’s because Ticketmaster has been on an email spree letting seemingly everyone and their mothers know they are waitlisted for a chance to secure tickets for her six shows set for November of next year.
Tickets for the singer’s Eras Tour went on sale on Wednesday, however, fans quickly realized that many of them were getting waitlisted despite doing everything they could to better their chances at snagging seats.
Fans quickly took to social media, including Twitter and TikTok, to share their disbelief and disappointment.
“When Taylor shows up to an empty stadium in Toronto because Ticketmaster waitlisted EVERY SINGLE PERSON,” one Twitter user said.
“I seriously hope after the Eras Tour is over: Taylor takes her ticketing IN house under HER control for the foreseeable future because it’s obvious ticket master & live nation DO NOT CARE and NEVER WILL,” another user said.
Here’s what others had to say about it:
Although Torontonians are feeling the heat, the City of Toronto is as cool as a cucumber and will likely receive a major boost in its economy when the global superstar comes to town.
Saskatoon news and radio station, 650 CKOM, reported that Swift’s six-show stint could rack up approximately $660 million for Toronto, according to music industry expert Eric Alper.
The Toronto Star also reported that the artist could bring home the largest short-term consumer spending the city has ever witnessed.
“People are going to stay in hotels, go to restaurants, go shopping, hang out. Some people will go to all six shows. So, the amount of spending that’s going to happen will be huge,” Alan Cross, a music writer and radio broadcaster told the newspaper.
Saying the city could use the cash is an understatement.
Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow recently admitted that it’s no secret Canada’s largest city is dealing with a massive budget shortfall.
“The City of Toronto is broke,” Chow said during a briefing regarding the refugee crisis last month.
She even turned her pocket inside out to bring home the fact.
