Four Toronto restaurants have joined the 2023 Michelin Guide’s list of restaurants that offer quality food at affordable prices.

According to the official Michelin Guide, the title “Bib Gourmand” is “not quite a star, but most definitely not a consolation prize, the Bib Gourmand…is a just-as-esteemed rating that recognizes friendly establishments that serve good food at moderate prices.”

“We’re so excited to add BB’s, Sunnys Chinese, Tiflisi and White Lily Diner to the selection of Bib Gourmand restaurants in Toronto,” Michelin Guide’s International Director Gwendal Poullennec said in a statement.

“The anonymous inspectors were quite impressed with the imaginative, delicious cuisine at these eateries, as well as the value and experience. We hope that local foodies as well as international travelers will enjoy these tasty gems we’re pleased to reveal,” he added.

All of Toronto’s Bib Gourmand recipients will be honoured on stage at a Michelin Guide ceremony where the full, official 2023 Michelin Guide will also be revealed. The ceremony is set to take place at History Toronto on Sept. 27.

Here is what you need to know if you plan on checking out these Toronto restaurants:

BB’s (Filipino cuisine)

BB’s diner is a cozy Filipino restaurant that makes you feel like you’re eating at your grandma’s house. It’s a spot everyone in the Parkdale neighbourhood gravitates to. The Michelin Guide says its brunch is a treat thanks to its Adobo Fried Chicken with house-made pineapple habanero hot sauce. And for dinner, you can have their classic Pork Sinigang, a sour braised pork loin soup.

Sunnys Chinese (Chinese cuisine)

For authentic and traditional Chinese cuisine, Sunny’s Chinese is the place to be. The Michelin Guide recommends the tripe and beef shank coated in chili oil to start before trying their charred silver needle noodles and grilled chicken thigh in cumin, chili and pepper. Last but not least, their Hong Kong French Toast with black sesame jam is the cherry on top of the cake. This french toast is the reason customers come time and time again.

Tiflisi (Central Asian cuisine)

Located in the Beaches, Tiflisi is a family-owned business that offers some of the best Georgian dishes. If you visit, make sure to bring a friend because portions are made to share. Not only are they huge and tasty, but they are made with a lot of heart. One of the reasons the place feels so intimate is because it is obvious a family has invested a lot of time and care into making its visitors feel welcome.

White Lily Diner (Creative cuisine)

Here’s a diner that uses all home-made ingredients to ensure the best quality brunch. White Lily Diner smokes their own bacon, bakes their own biscuits and donuts, bottles their own hot sauce and grows their own vegetables. Breakfast may be the star of the show but their lunch sandwiches are also a hit as well.
