Have you ever had a stubborn late-night craving for something sweet?

Well, your prayers have been answered. Insomnia Cookies has opened its first store in Canada at York University today.

The cookie company prides itself on being there during those sleepless, studious and post-party nights where people are in desperate need of warm cookies and ice cream. That is why the brand is famously known for being open at 3 a.m., just for these moments.

In addition to their delicious treats, Insomnia Cookies also has other popular products, such as its Cookie Cakes, Cookie’wiches and ice cream.

The concept of having late night cookies delivered straight to your door was created by a University of Pennsylvania student named Seth Berkowitz, back in 2023.

Seth and his friends were tired of the usual delivery rotation and yearned for a sweet dessert. As a result, Seth decided to create a batch of homemade cookies that ultimately hit so hard, word of mouth spread and Insomnia Cookies was born.

Now, the company has over 245 locations across the United States and is excited to bring their creation over to Canada.

“While our late-night in-store and delivery options have been the key to our success, so has our innovation of flavours and creations — what we call, ‘cookievation,’” Founder and CEO of Insomnia Seth Berkowitz said in a statement.

Some cookie options include the classic chocolate chunk, snickerdoodle, a new Canadian inspired SKOR® crunch deluxe, alongside their limited edition flavours, such as peach cobbler cookies and “brookies” a hybrid of cookies and brownies). Vegan options are also available as well using plant-based ingredients.

Insomnia Cookies is located at 85 The Pond in The Quad at York University. Cookie enthusiasts can attend their opening party Saturday evening from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m, where there’ll be live music, swag and of course, free cookies.
