The holiday season is in full swing and the year is quickly winding down! So, whether you have some time off, or are looking to get into the festive spirit after work, you’re in luck because In a city like Toronto there is never a shortage of things to do! We’ve rounded up different things for you to check out to make some memories for the last week of 2023.
Monday, December 25
Movie lovers can head to Hot Docs Theatre to enjoy a Christmas classic and support a good cause! Hot Docs is screening It’s a Wonderful Life, and tickets are on sale for $5. Organizers also ask that moviegoers bring a donation of money or non-perishable food to support Spadina-Fort York Community Care.
Tuesday, December 26
Enjoy your Boxing Day by taking a stroll around STACKT Market’s Holiday Hills event. This beautiful event is the perfect place to snap some festive photos, featuring a 40-foot-long Wish Wall, a massive Christmas tree and a 120-foot-long tunnel of lights. Attendees can take in delicious food and drinks from various vendors and live music. Holiday Hills is open Tuesday – Sunday from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m., with stores open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and it’s free to enter!
Wednesday, December 27
Gather your loved ones and take in some beautiful lights at Casa Loma. There are plenty of photo ops with stunning displays outside of the castle, which is currently decked out for Christmas. Guests can enjoy self-guided walks through the property and enjoy the holiday decor and live performances.
The tour is about 2 km long and mostly outside, so you’ll want to slip on your comfy walking shoes and bundle up. Heads up, the Casa Loma Holiday Lights experience does not permit guests to enter the castle. Those interested in seeing the interior decorated for Christmas should check out Christmas at the Castle.
Thursday, December 28
Calling all theatre lovers! There is no shortage of holiday-themed shows happening around the city, including Chris, Mrs., an exciting new holiday musical. The heartwarming production is great for families, couples, kids and groups! Check out a matinee or an evening performance, with tickets starting at around $67.
Friday, December 29
Light Up the Dark is returning to the city from December 27-29! People can head to the Aga Khan Museum from 6 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. to experience the dazzling light projections, created by a group of ten OCAD students and grads.
Attendees can warm up with a hot drink and food from delicious vendors, serving dishes inspired by South Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. Guests can also enjoy live performances and stroll the museum’s galleries, which will be open until 9 p.m. Entry to the Collections Gallery is free, while Temporary Exhibitions Gallery admission is $10.
Saturday, December 30
Those looking to dance the night away and enjoy some good tunes can do so at the Love and Harmattan Holiday Party. The party is going down at the Axis Club, starting at 10 p.m. Attendees can enjoy a night of Afrobeats, Amapiano, dancehall, hip hop and R&B. Tickets are available for purchase online.
Sunday, December 31
Ring in the new year in style at the Black & White Ball at Valerie inside of Hotel X. Located on the 27th and 28th floors of the hotel, the venue boasts a gorgeous view of Toronto’s skyline. Doors open at 9 p.m., and guests can enjoy a sushi station, seafood station, appetizers and music from DJ KALI. Tickets start at around $98 and are available for purchase!
