Calling all chocolate lovers: one of the world’s tastiest festivals is finally landing in Toronto. From chocolate sampling to runway shows featuring chocolate outfits, Salon du Chocolat is making its Toronto debut with a four-day chocolate celebration.
Salon du Chocolat is an international chocolate festival that originated in Paris and has travelled to Lima, Istanbul, Shanghai, and New York City; it launched its Canadian debut in Montreal three years ago and is coming to Toronto this year.
For Salon du Chocolat Toronto, the chocolate festival is starting strong with a series of chocolatey events and a theme that connects the festival to its roots: “From Paris to Toronto, A World of Wonders.”
”It’s an honour… We had the amazing opportunity to launch the Salon du Chocolat two years ago in Montreal… The events have practically sold out, and the one in Toronto is expected to be the biggest that we ever organized here in Canada,” Jean-François Kacou, President of Salon du Chocolat Toronto and Montreal, told Now Toronto.
Kacou felt it was important to bring this experience to Toronto, which he calls the “most dynamic economic hub of Canada.”
He says chocolate lovers can expect a variety of chocolate-filled activities, including a runway with outfits made out of chocolate, chocolate tastings with flavours from Guatemala, Costa Rica, Canada, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Vietnam and Jamaica, various workshops, chocolate demonstrations from professional chefs, and more.
“Expect everything around chocolate and beyond the boundaries of what we know of this magnificent edible food,” Kacou said.
At the media preview, Salon du Chocolat Toronto had plenty of chocolate to taste, including some with a CN Tower design, as well as a non-alcoholic drink that tastes like chocolate.
The four-day event runs from Nov. 19 to 22 at the Toronto Congress Centre.
