A viral video of Do West Fest circulating on social media is proving just how much Toronto and the community comes alive in the summer time.

In a video posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), a group of eclectic Torontonians are seen dancing along to a local DJ to Central Cee and Lil Baby’s track “BAND4BAND” at Toronto’s Do West Festival.

However, the main character and the life of the party is an elderly woman holding oranges in one hand and a can of beer in another. She’s been dubbed the star of the video for her positivity and infectious energy.

And that’s not all. If you think the video couldn’t get any better, the best part is the fellow dancers surrounding and supporting the woman. One man is seen holding a Goldendoodle, while everyone else is effortlessly hyping up the lively woman.

Online, reactions have been pouring in with people loving the video and being proud of the city.

“The tangerines in the bag are killing meee! Nana went out for a quick errand and got caught in a Do West rave,” one X user said.

“I really do love Toronto’s energy..I feel like every bar I went to was like this,” another user said.

“Greatest city on earth,” another user commented.

“Wah Gwan Delilah is about her,” another user said.

“People who don’t get Toronto just won’t get this. But this is the epitome of the Torontonian essence. Glad you captured this and shared it,” another user on TikTok said.

One user even went as far to say that Do West Fest is the best street festival in the city.

The Do West Festival is one of the city’s annual street celebrations that takes place in the heart of Little Portugal.

The festival is recognized for kicking off the summer with its live music, art, various food and community. This year marks the 11th anniversary of the festival which takes over Dundas Street West from Ossington Avenue to Lansdowne Avenue, covering 16 blocks of the city.

In addition to Do West Fest, Toronto is also highly known for its amazing summer festivals such as the Toronto Caribbean Carnival, Salsa on St. Clair, and OssFest, among others.

It’s safe to say this festival came at a great time where Torontonians needed to feel uplifted. Last week, many users took to X to share how miserable they felt about the city, attributing the potential TTC strike and the Gardiner Express closures, as examples why.
