HOOPQUEENS is hosting its championship finals this weekend and the winner will walk away with the William Young Trophy.

The non-profit organization is an all women basketball league that promotes the sport and empowers women athletes. HOOPQUEENS is also the first paid women’s basketball league in Canada.

“This league represents an unparalleled opportunity for women athletes to showcase their skills and compete at the highest level. We are immensely grateful for the support of our sponsors, partners, and fans, whose dedication allows us to make this league a reality,” HOOPQUEENS Founder Nakissa Koomalsingh said in a statement ahead of the league’s return this summer.

The league also hosts youth clinics, interactive workshops, and outreach programs, promoting inclusiveness within basketball.
