As the warmer weather approaches, Canadians are looking for places to visit across the country and Niagara Falls may top the list.
However, Canadians may want to reconsider as Niagara Falls ranks seventh on the list of the biggest tourist traps in the world, and the worst in Canada, according to a new report by Casago, a vacation rental company.
Casago defines “tourist traps” as “establishments that target tourists with overpriced experiences and souvenirs,” in their 2023 report.
Casago analysts searched “tourist traps,” through thousands of TripAdvisor reviews and ranked attractions bases on the number of times the phrase was used.

When describing their disappointment with Niagara Falls, one reviewer claimed “every attraction dumped you into a gift shop,” the report says.
The Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco ranks in the number one spot with pricey souvenir shops, restaurants and attractions.
Four out of top 10 of the biggest tourist traps are destinations in the United States, including Times Square in New York, the Albuquerque Old Town in Albuquerque, and River Street in Savannah, Georgia.
Las Ramblas in Barcelona, a boulevard where more than 200 000 people pass through daily, ranked second on the list, followed by Dublin’s Temple Bar, and Iceland’s Blue Lagoon.
