Toronto is known for many things, its multiculturalism, its impeccable food, its festival-filled summers, and a hockey team that loves to break our hearts; but perhaps less so for its world-class clothing optional beach, until now.

According to Nude Beach Map, a website that ranks nude beaches across the world, Canada’s largest city is home to one of the best urban spots to tastefully drop your skivvies.

To establish the rankings Nude Beach Map combined its site reviews with Google ratings and weighted beaches higher based on how close they were to a city centre.

Hanlan’s Point, located in the Toronto Islands, is the city’s only clothing optional beach, and it placed an impressive number five on a list of the ten best designated nude beaches close to bustling metropolitan centres.

However, another Canadian location managed to snag first place. Wreck Beach in Vancouver took the top spot. This nudist oasis has a rich history; people have been going starkers there since the 1930s.

Better still, it’s merely 30 minutes from Vancouver’s downtown core by car, and boasts unobstructed views of the region’s breathtaking surroundings.

Other naked hotspots that received notable mentions include Haulover Beach in Miami, coming in second place, and Platja de la Mar Bella in Barcelona rounded out the top three.

For those who fancy a daring wintery dip, Hanlan’s Point Beach is open all year round.
