Yorkdale, one of Canada’s largest shopping centres, is set to undergo a multi-million dollar renovation that will bring almost a dozen additional high-end brands and an enhanced food court.

Oxford Properties, the developer that owns Yorkdale Mall, announced the $28-million development plans on Monday.

The renovation is “designed to meet demand for prime retail space for more than a dozen of the world’s leading luxury brands,” Oxford said in a press release.

The new stores will open beginning in 2024, and others, including Honey, Ecco and LEGO, have already been relocated to the shopping centre’s North hallway to make way for the renovations, the press release said.

This wave of updates follows the unveiling of 53 new shops in the past few years. The upcoming additions to the space will make Yorkdale the largest carrier of luxury retailers and first-to-market brands in Canada.

The mall’s food court will also be redesigned. The new and improved “Dine on 3” will include expanded seating for 1,200 diners and nine new restaurants, for a total of 23 options.

Yorkdale says it will announce which retailers are going to be added to its roster of stores via Twitter in the near future.
