Drake Iceman Toronto takeover sends fans back to local ice cream shop behind ‘Drake’s chocolate peanut butter’

Long before becoming a celebrity rapper, Drake was just another Toronto kid stopping by Dutch Dreams for a scoop of his favourite ice cream, the owner claims in a TikTok video. The ice cream shop, which has been a city staple since the 1980s, fondly remembered the rapper’s childhood visits in the days following his Iceman drop, honouring those memories with a special flavour and stories.

What to know

  • Dutch Dreams in Toronto claims it was Drake’s favourite spot for ice cream growing up in the city.
  • The shop now features “Drake’s Chocolate Peanut Butter” in his honour.
  • The Dutch ice cream shop owner recalls fond memories of serving the future superstar and his mother.

Before Drake put “Toronto on the map,” he was an ordinary Toronto-born child visiting his local ice cream shop, and the recent Iceman mania is sending fans back to the shop behind where the owners reminisced about serving him in his younger years.

Dutch Dreams has been a long-standing Dutch ice cream shop since the 1980s.

There are currently 36 flavours, all made with Kosher ingredients.

In an interview with @hushblankets on Instagram, owner Theo Aben shared fond memories of Drake as a kid.

“Drake grew up coming here when he was a little boy. This was his spot,” he said.

“He’s a Toronto kid,” Aben proudly added.

But he recalled a night when three famous actors were in the store. That same night, Drake’s mother was talking to Theo, shocked that such famous people visited that store, Aben said in the TikTok clip. Ironically enough, years later, her son is one of those famous people.

“Drake was a little boy back then. Look at what happened to Drake. He ended up being the most famous person on the planet,” he said.
