New York lo-fi musician, scholar and comic aficionado Jeffrey Lightning Lewis (actual middle name) comes out of the mythical anti-folk scene and treads the same goofy/serious waters as Daniel Johnson, Jad Fair and their ilk, but with tales of Texas, LSD and shooting ghouls in the head, his lyrics bring to mind a wussier, less damaged Roky Erickson. It’s silly, folky stuff but done with care and worth checking out. A cute bonus is Lewis’s nice cartoons on the cover and insert.
