The Amazing Race Canada is back with an exciting lineup of teams for season ten and there’s six GTA players you can root for!
From former professional baseball players to Canadian reality TV stars, this year’s teams are hot and ready to win it all.
Hosted by Olympic Gold Medallist Jon Montgomery, season ten will feature 11 dynamic teams from across Canada, including six from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
The reality show follows teams of pairs as they race across the country, competing in various tasks, performing physical and mental challenges and travelling by different forms of transportations in order to be the first to arrive at their designated pit stops. The last team to arrive at each pit stop will be eliminated.
The first team to arrive at the finish line will win two 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV RS vehicles, a round trip for two by Expedia and a whopping $250,000 cash prize.
To commemorate the show’s tenth anniversary, the show will have its starting line in Niagara Falls, Ontario, the same location where season one kicked off in 2013.
Without further ado, here are the six GTA players you can support this season:
- Eva & Trystenne
Eva Amo-Mensah and Trystenne Burey are two close friends who aim to inspire young girls nationwide with their pure Black Girl Magic. The pair instantly clicked after meeting on social media in 2018 and then in person in 2020 after working at the same all-women gym.
Mensah is a 30-year-old business owner and personal trainer from Toronto. She’s a first generation Canadian born to parents who moved from Ghana, Africa. She has a passion to guide people who are struggling with difficult issues and uses fitness as an avenue to help.
Meanwhile, Burey comes from a Jamaican and Trinidadian background and sees personal training as a way to inspire others to love themselves. In the past, she studied at an all-arts high school and majored in dance, before leaving the industry to pursue fitness.
2. Brad & Sam
Brad and Samantha May are the father-daughter duo you never knew you needed. They are fierce competitors and want to put themselves and their relationship to the ultimate test. The pair would like to inspire other fathers, daughters and young women to do anything they set their hearts and minds to.
Brad is 52 years old and is known for being a former NHL player and winning the Stanley Cup in 2007 with the Anaheim Ducks. After unexpectedly losing his brother, Brad realized how precious life is and how important it is to spend time with the people you love.
Thanks to her father’s budding career, 24-year-old Sam moved from one city to another every few years and this sparked an interest in new cultures and experiences. By the age of 21, she has travelled to nearly 30 countries. Now, she is an event planner based in Toronto.
3. Lauren & Nicole
Meet the double-trouble identical twin duo Lauren and Nicole Peters. The 26-year-old Mississauga-born twins are inseparable and incredibly competitive with a mission to show the country what they’re made of. The two spent a lot of time in Muskoka growing up which they believe prepared them for this race. In addition to physical activity, the sisters love to act.
In fact, they are the lead actors in a movie premiering this summer, but have not confirmed that the film is called. On top of that, they are on the Canadian National Water Skiing Team and were finalists for Miss Universe Canada. They are ready to motivate others and showcase the power of their sisterhood.
The Amazing Race Canada season 10 premieres July 2 at 9 p.m. ET on CTV.
