Here’s what’s open and closed in Toronto this Easter long weekend

From transit to grocery stores, here’s how services and hours are changing across Toronto this Easter weekend.

What to know

  • Most malls, grocery stores and liquor retailers will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, with some reduced hours at select locations
  • Transit will run on holiday schedules Friday, with regular service resuming Sunday
  • Many City of Toronto services and facilities will be closed or operating on modified hours throughout the long weekend
  • Attractions, parks and some cultural sites remain open, though hours may vary

The Easter Bunny is here, which means another long weekend for the city to enjoy. But a long weekend also means reduced business hours across Toronto. Here’s what to expect over the Easter weekend.

MALLS 

Most major malls, including Yorkdale Shopping Centre, Scarborough Town Centre, and Fairview Mall will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. However, the Eaton Centre and Pacific Mall will operate on reduced hours both days. 

GROCERY STORES 

Most grocery stores will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Farm Boy locations will operate on reduced hours on Good Friday.

LCBO/BEER STORE

LCBO and The Beer Store locations will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

TRANSIT 

The TTC will operate on a holiday schedule on Good Friday, while GO Transit will run on a Saturday schedule. Both systems will operate as usual on Easter Sunday.

GOVERNMENT OFFICES

Service Ontario and Service Canada will be closed during the entire long weekend. Toronto City Hall will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

CITY SERVICES 

The City of Toronto says some activities, operations and facilities will be closed or operating on modified hours from Friday through Monday. Garbage collection will continue as scheduled on Friday but drop-off depots and transfer stations will be closed on Monday.

Community recreation facilities will be closed on Friday and Monday, with regular programming running on Saturday and Sunday.

LIBRARIES

Toronto Public Library branches will be closed Friday, Sunday and Monday, with digital services still available. 

ATTRACTIONS

The CN Tower, The Royal Ontario Museum, The Art Gallery of Ontario, the Toronto Zoo and most attractions will be open throughout the long weekend.

Toronto History Museums sites will be closed on Good Friday, open Saturday and Sunday, and closed again on Easter Monday. 

The St. Lawrence Market will operate on modified hours. The South Market will be closed Friday, Sunday and Monday, and open Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., while the Saturday Farmers’ Market will run as usual from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the North Market.

FERRIES

Ferries to Toronto Island Park will run on the regular winter schedule, though vehicle ferry service is suspended through April 7 due to ongoing work at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal.
