Manifesto is celebrating 50 years of hip hop next month with rap star Aminé headlining at Echo Beach

Concert season is in full effect in Toronto! And with no shortage of talent pouring into the city, we have another one you’ll want to jolt down. 

Manifesto is back and better and recently announced a full week of events to celebrate 50 years of hip hop from Aug. 7 to 13.

The festival, called The Block Party,  will all go down at Echo Beach with a full lineup of performers across two stages (MNFSTO Sounds Stage and The Block Stage). 

The show will see performances by rap star Aminé and Canadian rap icon Saukrates

Aminé is a Los Angeles-based musician of Ethiopian and Eritrean descent, he is best known for his hit singles  “Caroline,” “Reel it In” and “Red Mercedes.”

He has also collaborated with Offset (Migos), Kehlani, and Young Thug.

Also taking the stage is Saukrates, who is known as a rap legend in Canada. 

His catalogue has influenced many Canadian music stars including Drake – who he worked with early in his career. 

The Block Party will also feature a mix of live performances from notable Toronto music talents, including Kuruza, Eben, No Tourists, SadBoi, Liza, and Eleanor.

CBC Music’s Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe will host the Block Stage, showcasing Canadian contemporary rappers, such as Keysha Freshh, Phoenix Pagliacci, Temia, Vince the Messenger, and Clairmont the Second.
