An American woman is receiving tons of praise online for blasting U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff threats and attack on Canadian sovereignty at a town hall meeting hosted by a Republican Congressman.
The meeting took place at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington on Monday, where Republican Congressman Michael Baumgartner sat on stage and took questions from a large and eventually disruptive crowd.
Among the crowd was Cindi Miraglia who wasted no time asking the politician several hard-hitting questions while also calling out several recent actions made by Trump.
“The thing that frightens me is the way this insane president talks about Canada as the 51st state, taking Canada by force, and buying Greenland,” she said. “How does this person qualify as sane, why is he not being impeached right now?”
Miraglia’s comments received a round of applause and loud cheers from audience members, some attendees even started waving a big Canadian flag to show their support.

In an interview with Now Toronto on Wednesday, Miraglia says while she’s always been politically engaged, she hasn’t always felt the need to “step up” in the way that she did, until Trump’s recent comments.
“When Donald Trump got on TV and insulted Prime Minister Trudeau by calling him ‘Governor Trudeau,’ that was like the last straw for me,” she said.
Miraglia says that Trump referring to Canada as the 51st state and imposing tariffs on Canadian imports also contributed to her rage.
“I mean who does that to their neighbour?” she said. “I just couldn’t stand it.”
Miraglia continues to receive tons of support both from Americans, and also from Canadians who are thanking her for standing up for the country online.
“Seeing the support for our country, and that there are Americans out there who really have our back and aren’t afraid to voice their opinion, gave me hope. Thank you,” a Threads user said.
“Just a Canadian here getting emotional to see support for our sovereignty and the sovereignty of Greenland and Panama. Thank you!” another user added.
Several other users expressed how emotional the video made them, one user even said their eyes began to “well up with tears.”
Miraglia says the response she got from the audience was “the largest by far that night.” She says many people in the community don’t agree with Trump and have a special connection with Canada since they live along the border.
She says if she had the chance, she would do it again and continue speaking up.
“I’m so happy that the Canadians got to hear it and know that we love them… we don’t want this to happen anymore than you guys do,” she said.
