Beloved Scarborough restaurant Lucky Lin’s has found a new home, with plans to reopen in February, just one week after announcing it would be closing its doors following 34 years in the community.

The West Indian Chinese family restaurant recently shared that its landlord chose not to renew the lease at its longtime location at 5633 Finch Ave. E., where it has operated for more than three decades, leaving loyal customers heartbroken.

Now, there is reason for optimism as Lucky Lin’s has confirmed to Now Toronto that the restaurant has secured a new location.

Customers have also started spreading the good news., Last week, a social media post was shared by a customer who stopped by for “one last hoorah” and noticed a sign posted on the restaurant’s door announcing the move.

“A new location will be opening around mid-February near Kingston Road and Sheppard Ave. E.,” the notice read.

The new spot is located inside the plaza at 91 Rylander Blvd., the same plaza that houses the Port Union DriveTest Centre.

The current Finch Avenue location is set to close on Jan. 13, leaving a brief gap of about one month before the restaurant reopens further east in Scarborough.

When news of the closure first broke, social media, and Scarborough, was flooded with reactions, as residents shared memories and messages of support for one of the neighbourhood’s most cherished and long-standing food spots.
