Canada’s most popular children’s channel known for airing notable cartoons is rebranding next month.

TELETOON is becoming Cartoon Network on Mar. 27, as the channel pivots to TELETOON+, a multi-platform streaming service.

For 26 years, the treasured kids channel was home to the nation’s leading animation like Total Drama Island, Braceface and Caillou, shaping Canada’s children entertainment across generations.

Cartoon Network, an iconic American animation brand worldwide owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, has been available in Canada, and will be relaunching as Boomerang.

TELETOON’s rebranding is said to modernize and expand the Canadian media conglomerate’s catalogue in genre-defining entertainment.

“The rebrand to Cartoon Network and the launch of Boomerang, alongside TELETOON+, signals the next chapter in Canadian kids content – across linear and streaming platforms, live or on-demand,” Corus Entertainment said in a news release

Boomerang will be debuting in the Canadian market for the first time and it is recognized as the best in retro content, as well as classic animation and foundational kids programming.

“Staying true to our loyal fans across generations has been our top priority as we reimagine the future of our kids’ networks,” Jennifer Abrams, Corus Entertainment’s senior vice president of programming and multiplatform, said in a statement.“ By partnering with Warner Bros Discovery Inc. and strengthening our portfolio of brands across linear platforms, we will usher Cartoon Network into a new stage of hilarious comedy and edge-of-your-seat action all while keeping the TELETOON legacy alive in the digital space.”

Old and new fans of TELETOON are swarming to Twitter to share childhood memories and say farewell to the nostalgic channel.
