Elon Musk trolled the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) on Twitter after the media organization returned from its hiatus less than a month after swearing off the app as a result of being labelled “government-funded media.”
The CEO billionaire, with Canadian ties, took to Twitter on Tuesday to joke about the news outlet; meme style.
Musk posted a captionless photo to his personal Twitter account where his face was photoshopped on actor Jake Gyllenhaal’s body while being caressed from behind by late actor Heath Ledger.
The image was taken from a scene from the 2005 romantic drama Brokeback Mountain, based on a novel written in 1997.
The post garnered over 20 million views and approximately half a million likes as of Thursday afternoon.

On Apr. 17, The CBC said it would take a break from the app in protest to the “government-funded media” label given by Twitter.
“Our journalism is impartial and independent. To suggest otherwise is untrue. That is why we are pausing our activities on @Twitter,” the public broadcaster tweeted.
Less than a month later, on May 9, it returned for the first time to promote a story about “the threats to press freedom in Canada and the world.”
“Today, the CBC will resume some activity on a handful of Twitter accounts, including
@CBCNews, but we will significantly reduce our overall Twitter footprint and continue to assess the platform against our social media strategy,” it tweeted on Tuesday.
The news organization has been promoting some of itsarticles ever since.
“Oh. That didn’t last long,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Had no idea you had a tantrum and left. Strangely you weren’t missed,” another said.
Meanwhile, when Musk isn’t using his Twitter fingers for trolling, he’s often sharing updates about his app, which he purchased in late 2022.
In fact, the latest news in the Twitter universe is that you can direct message reply to any message in the thread and use any emoji reaction.
He added that users will soon be able to voice and video chat from their handle to anyone, allowing them to talk to people without giving them their phone number.
